Our mission is to deliver One Day at a Time books and Comfort Care Bags to children during this difficult time, starting right here in Michigan.
What is a Comfort Care Bag?
Each item in our Comfort Care Bags is thoughtfully chosen to bring comfort and a sense of dignity and belonging to children as they enter foster care.
Through your partnerships, we aim to help children feel seen, loved, and valued.
Together, we can bring hope—one day at a time.
Each Comfort Care Bag Includes:
A brand-new bag that belongs to the child - no more trash bags.
One Day at a Time book or Journal — Provides emotional support, reminds the child of their value, aids with literacy skills, and offers peaceful coping strategies during a traumatic experience.
A cozy blanket and stuffed animal — for warmth, calming, and comfort.
Personal care kit — starter hygiene essentials promoting self-care and dignity.
Why Books Matter to Children in Foster Care:
Many children in foster care lack access to books and reading routines, putting them at greater risk of falling behind, not from lack of ability, but because of instability and trauma. Books can be tools for healing, connection, and growth. When a child is read to, something powerful happens:
